Secret Garden Partying, and Fiasco’s highlights from the event

By, Dom :    Once again setting up base in the campervan park, team Fiasco embarked on another weekend of ‘music assessment’.  Basically this is true, however only very slightly.  We came with friends to party and watch our friend 10 rapid play his set.  It was also my birthday, and when i arrived on the friday afternoon, Ed, his girlfriend Jenny, his sister Ellie and Luke had not only set up my tent, but turned it into a birthday shrine! which was awesome of them – check it out.

We then went a bit mental for 12 hours – not entirely sure what happened but i vaguely remember coming across an awesome area called collosillium, which was a square arena with hay bails stacks up at the sides.   Memories of 90’s classics, and some minimal techno early on are good ones.   10 Rapid was due to play saturday night at 3am in teh Remix bubble, so we had a whole lot of nothing to do before that.  Which was lucky, because we all felt like absolute rubbish all saturday.  Lazily watch some music – i blame coco were playing on the mainstage.  It was nice, but even if they were incredible, we still wouldnt have appreciated it.  Eventually we came round after some laughing gas and dancing in the madame geishas, and sure enough by the time 10 Rapid came on, everyone was well up for it.  It was without doubt one of the best sets we have seen all year.  BANGING beats, in an awesome arena, with the perfect crowd, it couldnt have been better really.  Dom Gentry’s latest single ‘not everything sounds the same’ sounded awesome and really got the crowd pounding (see photo below).  Other highlights were the Loose Cannons, who contended with the fireworks display well, and threw their own Egyptian style party in the Remix Bubble.

Joining us at the festival was our friend Spencer (who we met at Snowbombing last year).  Hes quite well known amongst DJs and industry, as he is simply one of the funniest guys to go partying with.  He had is stitches the whole weekend, combining with Ed’s witty comments usually about how SGP is like all the best bits of Glastonbury in one place..   Which basically sums it up nicely. Amazing company (thanks ellie and luke for being amazing hosts again), good music, good weather, and good times all round!

Fiasco’s Glastonbury best bits

// July 14th, 2010 // 3 Comments » // Festivals - Reviews and info, Fiasco

Glastonbury 2010 was a pretty special weekend this year, not because it was the 40th anniversary or because England were playing on the big screens, but because the weather was fantastic and everyone was doubly up for a good party.  It was the first time in a few years that a Fiasco artist wasnt performing, which led us to believe we would be able to spend more time partying and less time staying sober.  That was exactly the case.  Fiasco base camp was in the caravan area, bit of a trek, granted, but worth it for the added space, and having a vw campervan.  Much of the weekend is a blur, with flashback of dancing in dance world, drinking behind the john peel arena (thanks to PRS), chilling out for hours in The Park in the sun.  Acts wise, you knew what to expect in Dance world with Fatboy Slim delivering his usual festival mind blowing club party to the masses.  Pyramid stage highlights for us were without a doubt Snoop  d o to the doube G, THE MUSE who had the most unbelievable live sound, and Glasto favourite Sea Sick Steve.  Mumford and Sons provided an electric atmosphere over on the John Peel stage, and Mundo jazz provided some much needed comedy at midnight over in the Circus area.  The real highlight for us, is without doubt the night areas – Namely Arcadia, Block 9 and ShangriLa.  Where else on earth does a rave look like Hell ?

Is this the coolest raving set up ever?

Exit Festival looks.. well… AWESOME! worth considering buying a ticket

This year’s Exit festival looks pretty great, with Placebo, Guetta, the Klaxons, Missy Elliiot, Chemical Brothers amongst other massive names. For me though, the real fun would be at some of the more obscure DJ sets. Brodinski is the man to watch in my opinion, and Exit will no doubt be the perfect setting. Tickets are only circa £80 for the 4 day fest, and flights are pretty cheap too..
